Sending Text Messages to Your Email
You can use this method with Android, iPhone, or any phone that you have. You can either make a new phone number or have your existing phone number do this. See below for a walkthrough to help you through it. You need to set this up on a computer, not a mobile device.
Step 1. Go to www.voice.google.com

Step 2. If this doesn't come up automatically, click on "Get a Voice number"
Step 3. Chose a new number or use your existing number.
Step 4. Either way you will need to enter a working phone number. Here are the steps to create a new phone number to give to your friends and family that are important to you so, even though you have a job that doesn't allow you to use your phone, you can still get your important messages straight to your email.
Step 5. Choose a phone number from the list by either area code or a word or phrase.
Step 6. Get creative if you want! :)
Step 7. Congratulations, you created a Google Voice Phone Number now. Now to get messages to your email address.
Step 8. Go to "Settings" in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Step 9. Go to "Voicemail & Text."
Step 10. Make sure "Text Forwarding" is ON. There you have it! Now your text messages will be sent to your gmail account. Want your text messages to go straight to your work email? Forward your gmail emails to your work email. :) Have fun. Hope this helps you all out.
